AI at work. Now comes the hard part. (Microsoft)
Microsoft has published 2024 Work Trend Index Report only two weeks ago, with the title: AI at work is here. Now comes the hard part.
> 75% of knowledge workers use AI at work today. Surprising? Hardly so.
> What was interesting for me however was how evenly it was spread across generations, highest being 85 % with Gen Z and lowest being 73 % with Boomers+.
> Today 71 % of leaders say that they rather hire a LESS experienced candidate with AI skills than a more experienced candidate without them. Cards are reshuffled.
What can HR professionals do?
Ensure that your continuous development efforts involve increasing knowledge on AI aptitude. Over time (and not very far in the future), it will change every aspect of work – just like once PCs did. If you need some data to back up your business case, the full report is on comments.

Some food for thought:
“These findings align perfectly with how our brains manage the trade-offs between routine task execution and innovation—different kinds of thinking supported by two distinct but interacting neural networks in the brain. When we’re constantly switching, we don’t work as well. AI can help liberate workers from menial work and enable innovation and creativity to flourish.”
